Staff and Friends Review the Titan Pro Paddle

Transcript of Video #3 - Sarah Ansboury

Hi guys, Sarah Ansboury- I'm coming to you from the US OPEN here in Naples, Florida. Well first, I'm going to let you know, I am your current 2015 Women's National Doubles Champion. I won a few other medals on the way at TOC and all these other things. My actual passion is the technology that's happening in paddles right now, which I think is fantastic. I want to talk to you about some of my favorite paddles.
This is in my bag right now. This is your Black Diamond Series from PROLITE. It's a Titan. This is going to be a whole series of paddles. This one has got a polymer core like a lot of paddles that are out there right now but this, on the outside, has got a carbon fiber outlay which gives you a different feel than your fiberglass or graphite or anything like that. It's a soft feel that you don't always get with everything. It's got about a half inch, so it's a little bit thicker so again it gives you the softness and the absorption that you want out of the ball, so I can hit a really solid dink. I can slow that ball down so easily just by getting my paddle on it without doing much, probably better than any other paddle I've played with, but I also get that nice sweet spot with a lot of power and pop in my volleys.
The other cool thing about it, which is also changeable, grips are always changeable, so you can always put what you like on it, but I really like this Diamond Grip. It's a PROLITE grip specifically. It's rubbery and it's great to play in this humidity when we're sweating so much. So back at home I'll probably have a softer, cushiony grip where here I'm going to put these rubber grips on all my paddles. So, go out and demo this paddle today and see if you like it.

Hi, what's your name?
My name is Brian Ashworth
Where are you from Brian?
Originally from Montana, but I live in Seattle, WA now.
Great! So you were a National Champion here...
3rd place (grin)
competing at the US OPEN, and what is one of the paddles that you are choosing to compete with?
Now I'm using the PROLITE Black Diamond Titan. It has nice touch to it, nice power, it's got a beautiful beard on it, and that's the main reason.
Brian, thank you so much for talking with us today.
You're welcome.
Good luck!

I already had a Titan paddle from a few years ago.  Wanted to buy some extra paddles for my kids.  Tried out the paddle -  overall good, solid paddle.

The one thing that did not like was the handle - small, no sizeable knob on the end, paddle handle tape was thin and I thought coarse.   I could feel the handle ridges through the thin handle tape.   I will just put an overgrip on the handle to build up.
Historically, Prolite paddles handles have felt good for me.  Not sure what drove this handle change on a premium paddle.

Great feel for drop shot and play at the net plus enough power to put shots past opponents.

I got this paddle and played with it for about a week. This paddle is absolutely amazing if you’re looking for very soft touch paddle. I came from a gearbox, and found the transition to this paddle very tough and frustrating to get used to. A very very smooth face also did not help my game, but could be perfectly fine for someone else. All in all, solid paddle, just not for me.
