PickleballCentral Expert's Corner:
Reviews of the PROLITE Surface NRG Paddle by Pickleball Central Staff:
"This thing is a beast in the best possible way. It's a 'player's paddle'; meaning that if you consider yourself a shot maker who likes to work the ball, then this is for you. I'm just starting to play at a 4.0 level, so I'm starting to experiment and play more with power oriented paddles. As you read this review, understand that I normally play with softer playing control oriented paddles. When I got the Surface on the court, I tried to channel my inner power player, and boy did I have some fun! I've recently started to hit with a little bit more spin (mostly under-spin on cut backhands and driving forehands with top spin to keep the ball down.) This paddle enabled me to hit these baseline cut drops and 'no-man's land' drives on high balls when the opportunity presented itself on 3-5-7 progressions with confidence. The face is HIGHLY TEXTURED (a nod to the old APEX?). I watched some other players put astounding amounts of spin on the ball with this paddle. I don't hit a ton of spin, but when I need it, this paddle delivered it with ease. The Surface NRG I used in the demo was a 7.9 ounce model, and the weight was biased moderately towards the head. This helps create more power, putting the mass out higher on the paddle. But just because this is a more power oriented paddle, it doesn't mean you can't execute finesse shots like drops, dinks, and lobs. After around 20 minutes of drilling, I felt confident placing these more touch shots where I needed. I still tend to power balls long, so I had to be careful with this paddle because it delivers the goods in terms of power. That's my issue, not the paddle. The sweet spot is consistent for a composite paddle, and I found that strikes outside the sweet spot still felt solid. PROLITE's brand is 100% authentic, and 100% devoted to creating unique paddles that fit very specific player types. They are one of the few companies that create a wide product line with something for everyone, but PROLITE is one of those rare manufacturers. This paddle is for someone looking for lots of power, great spin control, and a super solid feel. They've killed it with this model. It is a wonderful paddle."

"This paddle will deliver incredible pop when you put the ball in the sweet spot, and has just about the grippiest surface you’ll find on any paddle. In the hands of a player who is skilled at cutting the ball, particularly when playing with a Dura outdoor ball, shots will spin for days!"

"If you are a fan of the SuperNova and the Titan I encourage you to try out the Surface NRG. The touch, control and incredible spin that you get with the performance paddles from PROLITE is still there, and now you can have a little extra pop, as well.
The paddle feels well balanced in my hand, the weight more central and not towards the top. The grip is comfortable and feels good in the hand. And I think it is a good looking paddle, too!
But the true joy is on the court. Top spin or cut, my ball seemed to bite just a little bit more. The short game shots were staying low over the net and landing in the kitchen on the other side. And then, when the put away chance came, that is when I really noticed the difference with the extra pace on the ball. PROLITE continues to find unique materials to create innovative paddles. From beginner to pro, the Surface NRG is one to try."
