Selkirk SLK Omega Max Carbon and Fiberglass Paddle

The SLK Omega Max Pickleball Paddle is a unique offering from the SLK line, by Selkirk, and is the traditionally-shaped sibling to the elongated SLK Omega XL. First, each face is comprised of a mix of materials engineered to give you the best bang for your buck in terms of power from deep in the court, to control from the kitchen line. Manufactured from a layer of GC9-Flex Carbon for control and a layer of performance fiberglass for power, all atop Selkirk's 0.51" thick Rev-Core+ polymer honeycomb core material, and finished in a molded, edgeless design to enhance maneuverability. There's a lot of tech packed into this compact package.

Next, the Omega Max features Selkirk's NextGen Pro Texture treatment on both faces, delivering a new level of control through spin. Finally, a FlexFoam material is injected around the perimeter of the paddle just beneath the edge, which adds weight, widens the sweet spot, and results in a feeling of shot stability as the paddle resists torqueing in the hand when a ball impacts outside the sweet spot. Weight averages 7.9 oz., with a weight range tolerance of 7.7 – 8.0 oz. Dimensions are 16" long by 7.85" wide, with a 4.85" handle length. The handle is 4.25" in circumference and arrives wrapped in Selkirk’s popular SLK Ultra-Comfort Grip.

While the SLK Omega Max Pickleball Paddle by Selkirk could certainly be considered a power-player's paddle, there are enough control-oriented features built in that improving your short game and spin skills are certainly on the menu as well.

Actual grip sizes may vary up to 1/8".

All around great paddle for the price. (I got mine even cheaper from the used section) It is pretty lightweight. My previous paddle was heavier and I've noticed a significant improvement on my reflexes with this one. It has great pop for put-aways, but still has enough control to place shots perfectly. Really good touch for dinks, too. Is this a Vanguard Power Air? (or $200+ Joola/CRBN/Gearbox/etc) No. Can you still be really good/a 4.0+ with this paddle? Yes. I still win dink rallies and NVZ hands battles against 4.0+ players with $200+ paddles. If your budget doesn't fit top of the line paddles, try this one out.

My second Selkirk Omega Max, best paddle I have ever used. Edgeless, thin, light weight with terrific pop and control. I use white edge tape to protect the paddle from court scrapes. I play daily and alternate using my fantastic pair of Selkirk Omega Max paddles.

Paddle plays nothing like the power air series. The ball is much slower to come off the paddle and the paddle feels soft. Has a good sweet spot but very small and at the edge of the paddle the ball completely dies without the edge guard. This is supposed to be made very similar to the power air but there are few similarities as to the way it plays. ***PBC Response*** Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! We know that not every paddle will be right for every player which is why we offer our 30-day no questions asked test drive. If you do decide to keep the paddle, I recommend a bit of weighted tape on the corners of the paddle to optimize its potential. - Joseph, PBC Team

I received my new Omega Max paddle about a week ago and am LOVING IT! The paddle felt a bit light at first but, that has translated into faster at the net. The paddle feels real consistent and I feel like it's improved my soft game over the 16mm core carbon paddle I was using previously. Boy does this paddle have some pop too! Even shots made outside of the sweet spot are flying off the face. Another plus - I have big hands and this is the first paddle I haven't had to add an over-grip to - nice! I'd have no problem recommending this paddle to anyone that wants a solid, fast paddle with plenty of pop.

Paddle feels very comfortable, ball jumps off paddle when struck with some authority, paddle is light and nimble when attempting finesse shots at the net

Bought after reading several reviews touting this as a great value. Unfortunately, for me, it has too much pop for quality net play. Also, the shortened length became evident on quick net exchanges.

  • SLK Omega Max - MAX Value

^ Bad joke - sorry. But it's true. If this paddle fits the specs your looking for it's the best value out there. The Omega Max is my new daily driver. It delivers the right mix of touch & power for a good soft game while still giving great access to power. It's similar to the Power Air but with a little more control and less power. The Power Air is super fun to hit with but carried too much vibrations to my elbow. This paddle is a little softer and has less vibration. Both paddles have crazy spin potential. Omega Max also has a little deeper/softer sound signature. Shape wise it is pretty similar to the Epic and seemed to have a similar sweet stop. Omega Max sweet spot is maybe a little higher and little wider (not scientifically, just an opinion). For me this is a buy at any price point but a low price tag makes it that much more appealing!

First time user with this type of paddle. Has added power which is exactly what I was looking for.
