I was really looking forward to a thin core Electrum, having been a fan of the 13mm CRBN. Overall, the paddle does have more pop than the thicker core original Electrum models, and the spin potential seems similar. It kind of feels like the 2nd generation nomex core paddles from Gamma, But there is one glaring issue and that is a lack of stability. Very noticeable when volleying hard drives, as the paddle really twists on off center hits. It definitely requires some modification and more perimeter weighting (get out the lead tape). I think it’s a great transition to players that liked the Engage Icon line, or thinner nomex core paddles. You get the pop, better feel, and more spin potential. I think players who don’t hit the sweet spot often will struggle, but more advanced players shouldn’t be too bothered except when volleying bangers.
