ONIX Z5 Composite PaddleThe Z5 Composite Pickleball Paddle by ONIX is a heavier version of the ultra-popular
Graphite Z5 paddle. Virtually identical in all aspects (except for material, construction and weight), this paddle is a great choice for players who want a little extra oomph behind their hits. The solid Nomex honeycomb core provides a sturdy foundation for play on the fiberglass face. The face is covered with a graphic similar to cells, and then topped with a giant “Z” and a “5” in flourishing text.
The Composite Z5 paddle provides lots of power, thanks to its weight of 8.4-9.2 ounces. The paddle is 8-1/8” wide when measured from side to side, and 15-1/2” long from the top of the edge guard to the end of the handle. The handle is a good length of 5”, providing just enough length for reach without seeming overly-long. It is wrapped with a black perforated cushion grip, which makes the grip circumference on this paddle a medium size.
After playing just once with this fantastic paddle, it will be evident why so many people consider the Z5 Composite paddle to be one of the best paddles produced.
Actual grip sizes may vary up to 1/8".
Favorite Reviewer: Nancy Freiberg from Schofield, WI United States I love this paddle. Second one I own now and will be used to demonstrate the game, guests, bring along to tournaments just in case and a backup if needed. Tennis grip is wonderful and stays tight in my hand even after seven long matches in the hot sun. Sweating is not my friend, but the grip keeps my racket from sliding. Great Paddle and I recommend it to all our new members.
Z5 composite Reviewer: Tim S from Edwardsville, IL United States I really like the paddle. It provides both good feel and power. I called PickleballCentral twice before I placed my order. The staff was extremely helpful. Paddle was delivered as promised.
Z5 Paddle Reviewer: Larry from Brooksville, FL United States Great feel, solid returns. An excellent paddle overall.
Want to elevate your game? Reviewer: Gerard Russell from Robbinsville, NJ United States Love the grip and hitting surface on this racquet. I am relatively new to the game and played with a wooden racquet, wow has this made a big difference in my level of play.
Most popular Reviewer: Margaret Zimmerman from Bear Lake, MI United States This is the most popular paddle in our club. It is well built, the graphics don't chip off. It is lighter than the wooden paddles that many folks start playing with. Women like the extra weight vs. the graphite when playing outdoors in the wind.
The Z5 Comp. paddle & THEE place to buy it! Reviewer: Wayne L from Hiawassee, GA United States I’m highly recommend PBCentral. They are very helpful & ship super fast. They'll let you try it for 30 days. Can’t beat that. My wife plays with the Z5 graphite..simply put..loves it. I chose the Z5 composite, because I wanted a little more weight & a little bigger on the grip. When your with your PB group, the talk is all about the lightness of paddle as they proudly shove theirs into your hand for you to say “ oh wow that’s nice-n-light”. I don’t get too balled up in that..remember folks we’re talking grams or maybe an ounce or 2 at best. I just want a paddle heavy enough to know that I have something in my hand. Nowhere near the weight of wood. Both of the Z5s have a texture on the surface that I’ve not seen on any other paddle. I think it gives the paddle better ability for imparting spin on the ball. Probably up for debate by some, but it’s my review & I’m sticking to it. Bottom line: I love this paddle. Get it & I’m guessing you won’t be disappointed. Good luck and have fun!
I made a good choice for me Reviewer: Rick from Kissimmee, FL United States New to the sport. Love the feel of the grip, the sound at impact, and the result of a good hit. I did well. :)
Great Paddle Reviewer: Tom C from Clarksville , MI United States Had been using an 8.7 oz Champion paddle for the past 1 1/2 years and was very happy with it, but wanted to try something different with similar weight. Selected the Z5 composite (8.6oz) about two months ago and am delighted with it. More evenly weighted than the Championand and plays very well. Also, can't say enough about the service provided by Denise of PB Central. Had the exact paddle (color and weight) I wanted in 3 days with free shipping ( bought two paddles).
Z5 widebody Reviewer: Joe Vartanesian from Wake Forest, NC United States The Z5 wide body paddle has become the paddle of choice in this area for the basic beginner up thru the 3-rankings
Great paddle Reviewer: Guy Tabar from Guilford, CT United States Great looking paddle. Hits solid. Well balanced.
Z5 composite Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Kent, WA United States heavier than the graphite Z5 gives me more power
Z5 Reviewer: Jo Ann Clark from Sacramento, CA United States First time with this. No break-in period and ended up winning a mini-tournament with it. Love the pink!
powerful Reviewer: victoria from santa fe, NM United States I just got this paddle and really like it. I've lent it to a few people to try it out, and they liked it too. It is heavier than my Champion paddle.
Excellent Reviewer: Matt Clarkson from Corning, NY United States Went from a pickleball elite to this paddle. Just a touch heavier but I definitely noticed more pop off of this paddle. This is my main paddle now. I've ordered from this company a few times now and they have great service and fast shipping. This is the first company I check out when I need Pickleball supplies
Z5 Widebody - Composite Paddle Reviewer: Margaret Zimmerman from Bear Lake, MI United States What a great all-purpose paddle. Medium weight and medium price. I see more Z5 paddles on the court than any other brand. I now own 2 of these.
power paddle Reviewer: KA from Mt. Dora, FL United States excellent feel for dinks. good control for hard hits.
Z 5 Widebody - Composite Reviewer: Timothy Wright from St. George, UT United States My favorite paddle. I have 3 graphite Z 5 Widebodies and the Composite adds to my collection. The paddle is heavier which slows my swing for better control. I really like the zip it has off the paddle.
Like a glove... Reviewer: Mr Amazing from Carthage, IL United States I love this paddle. It has a great grip that feels natural in my hand and on every strike of the ball.
Quick and light Reviewer: Rocky Clark from Portland, ME United States The Z5 is quick and light. Very large sweet spot. Spins can be effective off the surface of the Z5. Addicting "pop" when making contact.
