BOOST Pickleball Intermediate Training Camp-Templeton, CA
Sponsored by PickleballTournaments.com and Powered by Pickleball Central
3-Day Camp May 13-15, 2019 (Mon-Wed)
Designed for players seeking only the highest quality training program experience, Pickleball Central has partnered with Steve Dawson and the Bobby Riggs Tennis & Pickleball Center for these San Diego area Training Camps. Each of these Intermediate Training camps will be led by Coach Steve Dawson, one of the world's best pickleball players and instructors. He is a two-time US OPEN Pro Gold Medalist, Huntsman World Champion, Canadian National Champion, and multi-time USAPA Nationals Medalist. Steve has over 25 years as a tennis and pickleball teaching professional, and is co-owner of the Bobby Riggs Tennis & Pickleball Center. After a successful collegiate tennis career (two-time Big 8 Champion at Univ. of Oklahoma), Steve became a full-time tennis coach. Years ago, Steve developed a passion for pickleball, and quickly became one of the sport's best players.
The camps will be run using a program developed by Coach Dawson using his 25+ years of competitive training experience. These Intermediate camps are designed for players rated 3.0-4.0 who are seeking a "play hard, compete hard, have fun" environment. All of the drills and skills are designed to translate immediately into competitive play, and each drill is based on a specific competition objective. The program is designed not only to improve your mechanics and shot techniques, it is designed to help improve your approach to game and match play - making you both a better player, and a more formidable competitor. Over three days, you will spend over 15 hours (plus optional open play time) in thoughtfully structured clinics, playing and competing with similarly skilled players. You should expect a lot of personalized instruction, as the instructor to student ratio is 8 to 1, and each drill is led by Coach Dawson and his hand picked 5.0 Guest Pro & staff instructors.
Unique to these camps is the use of a World Class Guest Instructor who will share unique insights into what it takes to succeed at the highest level of the sport. The Guest Pros (see which camps have which guest pros below) work closely with Coach Dawson and his staff (see below for biographies) so you will get access to an amazing amount of face to face time with some of the best players in the game.
Our Pickleball Training Camps will focus on skill development, strategy, shot technique, practice methods, and mental preparation to improve your overall game. These programs are sponsored by PickleballTournaments.com, and administered by Pickleball Central so you can sign up with confidence. The team at Templeton Tennis Ranch has collaborated with Pickleball Central and PickleballTournaments.com to create the best possible program, so we guarantee your satisfaction with this training camp! Located approximately 30 minutes from San Luis Obispo, the facilities for this camp are first rate. This Intermediate Training Camp will take place on the 8 lit and permanent pickleball courts at Templeton Tennis Ranch. The windscreens will be removed so all courts will be visible by all
instructors to ensure a personal training camp experience. Come enjoy a superior recreation club with World Class instructors!
Known as the Hidden Gem of the Central Coast, Templeton Tennis Ranch was
built on an old farmstead set amid a tranquil wooded property in the
heart of wine country. The 11,000-square-foot clubhouse was designed in
an "S" shape to preserve all of the property's live Oak, Madrone,
Manzanita, and Pine trees. The welcoming clubhouse atmosphere embodies
the club's philosophy of fun, friendship, and fitness and is brought to life by
the use of antique rackets for directional signage, cozy seating, game
tables, and soaring windows with forest views. Enjoy a glass of wine on
the outdoor deck overlooking distant vineyards or enjoy a beautiful
stroll on the walking trail that skirts the perimeter of the facility.
In addition to the clubhouse you can enjoy a complete fitness center,
infrared sauna, pro-shop and state-of-the-art tennis and pickleball
courts. Conveniently located near the Highway 1 Discovery Route, you can take a drive and find uncrowded beaches, 12 state parks, Hearst Castle, three bountiful wine regions, farm-to-table cuisine, and unique wildlife habitats.
An on-site cafe will be open during this Training Camp to
provide salads, wraps, sandwiches and drinks for purchase. Massage
services are available with reservations booked directly through
Templeton Tennis Ranch by calling 805-434-9605 in advance of the Training Camp. Lodging discount
partnerships and optional wine tasting group tour (Sunday May 12th) are available and details will be provided upon purchase of your
Training Camp reservation.
The Templeton Tennis Ranch instruction staff includes:
Brett Noel: Brett has over 50 medal awards in competitive pickleball and is currently a ranking member of the Professional Pickleball Registry and the USAPA. He is considered one of the top 5 pickleball players on the Central Coast. Brett brings a unique gift to coaching pickleball and believes every player can improve their skills and become a better player with the right instruction. The old method of "one style applies to all" doesn’t work. Each person learns differently and has unique skills. A good coach can see where each individual needs to change for the better. Personal attention and years of coaching and training is what makes Brett one of the best training coaches on the Central Coast. Brett is a 5.0 player with 5+ years of instructing experience and has worked with several pickleball clubs and organizations on the Central Coast. His recent accomplishments include: 2017 Gold Medal Winner at USAPA Nationals. 4-time Gold Medal Winner at the Santa Barbara Tournament, and Gold Medal Winner at the Tustin Memorial, Paso Robles, Bay Area Senior Games, and The Lakes Tournaments.
Mike Patterson: Mike began playing tennis at the age of 9 and soon started playing in tournaments in the Fresno area and spending his summers playing in junior club league. He continued to play tennis and racquetball through high school. When he chose a college that didn't have a tennis team, Mike took up soccer at the California Maritime Academy playing Division 3 soccer for 3 years. Over the next 25 years Mike would continue to play and coach soccer. His dormant skill set from racquet sports was brought to life when he began playing pickleball in 2017. In his first year, Mike became a silver medalist at the USAPA National Championships. In June 2018 he earned his IPTPA teaching certificate and decided to become a full-time pickleball instructor. Mike's pickleball teaching philosophy is to encourage students to embrace the soft game. "Keep your dinks and drop shots unattackable and success will follow!"
