Light or Middleweight/Small or Large Grip

Prince Spectrum Pro Pickleball Paddle

The Spectrum Pro Paddle has a circular shape that creates an extra large sweet spot that will blow away "touch" players' expectations. This paddle has a very soft feel that can still smash winners with ease whenever you see an opening. A thick polymer core serves to increase its responsive nature while a slim edge guard allows for the maximum amount of surface area. This paddle defies the normal trade-offs you face in composite fiberglass paddles - it has an enormous sweet spot, and exceptional power attributes, making it equally appealing to players who want both a great defensive paddle and an offensive weapon.

The Spectrum Pro Paddle has a 5" long handle and can be ordered in two different weights and grip sizes in order to customize its features to best suit your needs. The broad 8-1/4" will offer plenty of room to return all manner of shots while keeping control over your volley's angle and positioning. The design uses a background composed of a combination honeycomb/jagged design overlaid by Prince's "p" logo.

The Spectrum Pro Paddle features a wonderful blend of touch and strength which will have you feeling more in control of your game than ever before. The Progressive Core technology is thicker than the industry standard polymer cores. It features a 9/16" thick core that provides a "linear progressive" feel. The more you power up your shots, the more of that power gets imparted to the ball. Normally with other fiberglass faced paddles this results in a concentrated "hot spot" in the middle of the face, but the Progressive Core" on the Prince, combined with its unique rounded shape that maximizes the sweet spot, gives you shot consistency with soft shots (like dinks), defensive volleys (where you need to take power out of a shot coming at you fast), and power put away shots. Our testers marveled at this paddle, noting it was one of the best paddles we've ever put through the test lab (see their comments below.)

Actual grip sizes may vary up to 1/8".

Reviews of the Prince Spectrum Pro Pickleball Paddle by Pickleball Central Staff:

"When I heard that Prince was introducing a paddle, I thought 'how is a tennis company going to do with creating a pickleball paddle?'. Well I got to test one, and I have to say that I was totally blown away with how good a paddle they produced! The round shaped head creates an enormous, super consistent sweet spot. To me playing at 5.0, I look for a paddle that allows me to play well defensively when I'm attacked with a hard volley or aggressive ground stroke, and the Prince paddle is one of the best control paddles I've ever picked up. To me it's a composite paddle with the touch and feel of graphite, with plenty of control plus a ton of power when you want to put a ball away. It's light weight, and so I feel like I can get fantastic touch on softer shots. The face has enough grit on it to give me excellent spin control. I think I am really going to like this thing!"
Peter, Head Pro / IPTPA Certified Teaching Professional (5.0 Player)

"The first thing you notice about the Prince Spectrum Pro is the shape of the grip, due to its thick core, the shape of the grip is a bit more squared up (vs oval or elongated rectangle), which I find to be a positive. I love that it comes is both a thin (4 1/8") and standard (4 3/8") circumference size. The shape makes it easy to maintain a feel for the proper angle of the paddle in your hand, minimizing off angle hits from rounder paddles. While I do think this is a power paddle because the sweet spot is larger, shots are more predictable and therefore ball control is enhanced on all shot types. This paddle feels lighter than it is and therefore I think the amount of power/pop can be surprising. We know weight affects the amount of power or soft touch a paddle will have and because this paddle has such a wide range of weight options one could easily go up or down in weight to get more or less power or control. As a Product Manager, I love it when a paddle company doesn't assume 'one size fits all', and this paddle has great options available for weight range and grip - let the customer pick what's best! In terms of ball feel and shot control, I think this is where the Spectrum shines. It flat out feels good. Initially I was hitting a lot of balls out the back because I was not anticipating how much pop the paddle has and was probably overswinging because it does feel lighter (not sure where the weight is centered but it feels like it may be a bit more handle biased). Once I played with it for 15 minutes or so I really started to get the feel of it and was able to put a lot of spin on the ball and still feel like I could control and place shots. Because of the weighting it also feels very quick and maneuverable and the wider face instilled confidence particularly as I was working on spinning serves, defending volleys, and cutting backhand returns. It has a wide consistent sweet spot that allowed for more creative and risky shots while maintaining consistency because I didn’t have to worry as much about hitting it right on center. Truly confidence inspiring. Because of these attributes, I really think this is a great paddle for players of all levels, so long as someone is looking for something to truly improve their game. Because of the larger face and large sweet spot this paddle plays great and is also quite forgiving. But when you see some of the pros (like Jennifer Lucore) using the paddle, you can tell this is a paddle you won't outgrow. "

"If you love the science of the pickleball paddle, the new Prince paddles are an inviting playground. The new rounded shape allows the energy to dispense throughout the paddle evenly, creating one of the largest sweet spots in pickleball. The paddle will also resonate with those who like a thicker paddle. The Spectrum has a 9/16” core which softens the play without compromising power. If you are not into the science, you will just enjoy the way the paddle plays. Great touch at the net is combined with enough power to get serves and returns to the back line. "

I really enjoy this paddle. It seems to give me better control and more power behind my drives. I'm a recreational player, but I like to play my best. It is a much improved paddle from my previous paddle.

I have been a diehard prince user from the beginning of my pickle ball journey. Been using this model exclusively for two years. Unfortunately, the quality just is not holding up how it used to. The paddles now crack right along the rim in the seam of the honeycomb. My latest paddle didn’t even last 10 days before starting to crack. The one before that lasted three weeks. no scuff marks on the edges, so I’m not banging the paddle on anything hard just normal play. I’m super bummed because this is the paddle I love for the soft game. Had to switch brands which I was bummed about.

I wasn’t a big fan of the first paddle I ordered. Knowing there was a 30 day return policy, I sent it back and ordered a second one this time speaking with a company rep and describing my “game” to him. All went smoothly and I’m enjoying my new paddle. Great customer service.

I had purchased a very inexpensive pair of racquets from a large, well known sporting goods chain store. It was fine for using to decide if I wanted to play on a regular basis. When I began to play 2 or more times a week I saw the need to use better equipment after an instructor let me try their racquet. I tried those of others as well and decided what I wanted. This led me to search on the internet for the racquet I ended up buying here. The price was the lowest by far and at the time shipping was free. Once the order was placed the racquet arrived within a couple days. I am very happy with my purchase and how the transaction went. I will surely check Pickleball Central for my future needs.

Being new to the sport of Pickleball I needed a paddle that might help me to improve my skills. I am a 73 year old small woman (5' 111 pounds). This paddle has worked well for me for short shots, returns and serves. Having only been playing 6 weeks (4 weeks in group lessons) and 2 weeks with the Spectrum Pro my expertise as to what others might expect from this paddle is limited. Fits my hand well and not too heavy.
